The Summer Empire
Themesong: Magic and Moonlight
Characteristics: Amura owes much of its modern prosperity to a stroke of luck. Cevedes, the center of thaumaturgical research under the Nobility, had no Nobles in residence during the Dawn War. The ruler had died in Noble factional fighting only a week previously, and when the rebellion began the rebels were able to capture Cevedes completely intact as well as guard the transportation platforms. As such, Amura has the most extensive transit infrastructure in the Summer Empire, and its magical research facilities are second to none. Students from all over the Summer Empire come to study there, and the majority of those
who return to their home countries do so with an excellent opinion of Amura, further increasing its influence.
Amura’s thaumaturgical might expends far beyond the walls of its universities. Their harvests are always bountiful, and their food exports bring them in more than enough money to keep the ostentatious fountains in their cities flowing. Crime is dealt with through thaumaturgical conditioning of the offenders to make them more amenable to returning to society. The Houses of Doors are still intact, and Amurites think little of traveling across their country or from island to island to visit relatives. Many visitors find the Amurites reliance on thaumaturgy to be unnerving, but it is undeniably effective.
